STANDAID
Standaid is a product which helps people who cannot stand for long who require a way to rest while preparing food in the kitchen.

Aim of the project was to come up with a product or system for the kitchen which is mostly universal in use.
The stakeholders in question are the elderly, differently-abled and the expectant mothers.
The action plan developed with the team was to build a kitchen component, or space that allows the stakeholders to rest their back while cooking when needed.
Solving the problem

Using the product

Design Intent
The Seat The angle proposed is at 135°, making Standaid a more comfortable leaning-sit option. The seat is designed to take the stress off the back and knees, and encourage short breaks, rather than long rests.

Support Stand
The stand was designed in a way to be able to stash away when not in use.
It was inspired by the collapsible version of the White support cane for the blind .
It has magnetic capabilities to give the user the ability to put it away safely.

Bio mimicry
Using a semi-dense rubber for the base, it imitated the finder tips or animal paw pads.
It has the ability to compress onto the ground, attaining a strong grip, resisting any movement.
The base rubber piece is spring loaded, giving it a little suspension resulting in an increase in comfort

Base of the stand
To increase grip for the rubber base, the textures of a gecko, for its adhesive ability to stick to vertical walls.
We used the ridge patters and applied it to the bottom of the base for better gripping feature.

This was a team project which had one product designer (team leader) which was me, two interior designers and two graphic designers in the team. This collaboration was for the RSA England competition where we were one of the 8 finalist for the entry level competition.
